The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) has written to the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) recommending the cutting of branches of over 404 trees on arterial roads, as they may pose a risk of snapping and causing inconvenience to commuters.

The move has come in the wake of more than 300 trees that were uprooted over the past two days due to strong winds and rains that wreaked havoc in the city. In the first phase, the BTP identified branches that could cause issues and sent the list to the GBA.
