74 artificial ponds arranged for immersions
Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has announced special arrangements for Ganesh idol immersion, setting up 74 artificial ponds across the city to ease pressure on Hussainsagar and other major tanks. These include 24 temporary portable water tanks, 23 temporary excavation ponds and 27 permanent baby ponds spread across zones.
Each pond will be managed by an officer-in-charge and supported by nodal officials, sanitation teams, cranes, medical camps and waste removal vehicles working in three shifts to ensure smooth immersion.
Immersion will take place in 20 main tanks including Hussainsagar, Saroor Nagar, IDL and Safilguda, in addition to the artificial ponds, allowing devotees to complete rituals closer to home.
