Prosecutors later filed formal charges, including armed criminal action. Police confirmed that a roommate present in the apartment was not injured and has not been charged.

What Denita Jackson told police about the incident
Investigators say Jackson provided a detailed account of what led to the stabbing. She told officers she left work early Sunday night because she was not feeling well. When she returned home, she said she found Goldson, whom she identified as her boyfriend, inside her roommate’s bedroom behind a locked door.Jackson stated she used a hair clip to unlock the door. She told police she discovered Goldson and the roommate in bed together, fully clothed. According to her statement, a physical fight followed. She alleged that Goldson kicked her in the stomach, causing her to fall, and then began choking her.Jackson told officers she reached under the roommate’s bed, grabbed a knife, and stabbed Goldson before calling 911. Police are continuing to review evidence as the case moves forward through the court system.
