Tragic accident in Hazaribag: Truck mows down woman labourer in Hazaribag; Driver flees scene, leaving family devastated

Hazaribag: A woman labourer was mowed down by a truck at Barhi Chowk in Barhi block of the district when she was on way to work on Sunday.The victim was identified as Urmila Devi (35), a resident of Bendagi village in Barhi.

She was the primary breadwinner of her household, police said.Officer in-chargeof Barhi police station Vinod Kumar said, “Urmila had left home on foot to reach a house near Tilaiya Road, where she was scheduled to work for the day. A truck (UP-74 AT-7095) hit her as she was crossing Barhi Chowk. Hunt is on for the driver who managed to flee. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem at Barhi sub-divisional hospital.”
