Police recovered a scooty near the site
Dumka: Sahibganj police recovered the body of a 28-year-old tribal man identified as Jitendra Munda from an abandoned and illegal coal mine at Kaishpuli village under Barhet police station limits of the district on Sunday.
The deceased, belonging to Kolhua Toli, was missing since Oct 17, and a case to that effect was lodged by his father with Jirwabadi police station on Oct 25.His body was found tied with a plastic rope and floating inside the mine tunnel. Preliminary investigation suggests that Jitendra’s murder is linked to a love affair, indicating the involvement of about half a dozen individuals.In his complaint, Jitendra’s father, Buldu Munda, expressed fears of his son’s abduction and possible murder, naming Jushanti Soren and her husband, Shivram Murmu, both residents of Mukhdi village under Barhet police station, as the accused. According to the FIR, Jitendra’s friend Munna Marandi claimed that Jitendra confided the night before he went missing that he was in love with Jushanti and planned to meet her to collect some money.
The OC of Barhet police station, Pawan Kumar, said that the murder investigation was being linked to the previously registered abduction case."Several suspects are being interrogated as part of the ongoing probe," the OC said.
