Tragic Drowning Incident of Fisherman Pintu Ram in Chatra District

Chatra: A villager identified as Pintu Ram (32), drowned while fishing at the Chhath ghat area in Pandeytand village in Giddhaur block headquarters of Chatra district at around 4:30 on Sunday evening.The victim was a resident of Dhibha locality in Chatra town, who recently settled in Pandeytand village under Pahra panchayat in Gidhaur after acquiring land from his uncle-in-law.According to locals, the youth went to Lotar Dam to catch fish when he slipped and fell into the water, which is estimated to be 30 to 35 feet deep at the spot where he drowned.Gidhaur police station officer in-charge, Shiv Yadav, reached the spot along with his team and has been supervising rescue efforts. Due to dusk, the search operation was called off.However, Yadav assured that divers would be called on Monday.
