A Union Pacific Railroad train derailed in Palo Pinto County, Texas, on Tuesday afternoon, ABC News reported. The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 pm local time on a railroad bridge along Coalville Road, roughly two miles east of the town of Gordon.

The derailment left several freight and tanker cars scattered and stacked on top of one another amid the debris, raising immediate concerns. While the contents of the derailed cars have not yet been confirmed, local authorities have not ruled out the possibility that hazardous materials may have been involved.

Union Pacific has stated that, as of now, no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident. The company is working with local officials and emergency responders to assess the situation and ensure public safety.

In a post on Facebook, the Palo Pinto County Emergency Services Department urged residents to avoid the area, citing a “potentially hazardous situation" as crews respond. Fire officials are reportedly “proceeding with caution," and county representatives have confirmed the incident is being treated as a hazardous materials (HazMat) situation.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the derailment.
