Chennai: Passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Erode will face disruptions from July 7 to 10, as Southern Railway has announced partial cancellations of four train services due to Electronic Interlocking work at Jolarpet station. Train Nos 66550 and 66549, running between KSR Bengaluru and Jolarpet, will be short-terminated and originate from Somanayakkanpatti instead of Jolarpet. Similarly, Train No. 56108 from Erode will terminate at Tirupattur, while its return service, Train No. 56107, will start from Tirupattur instead of Jolarpet.In a separate release, South Western Railway stated that Train No. 11005 Dadar–Puducherry Express, departing from Dadar at 9.30 pm on July 21, will be diverted due to engineering work at Banaswadi Yard.
The train will skip its scheduled halt at SMVT Bengaluru and instead run via Chik Banavar, Yesvantpur Cabin, Yelhanka, Channasandra, and Krishnarajapuram.
Special trainsTo accommodate additional demand during the Kudamulukku Festival at Subramania Swami Temple, Southern Railway will operate a pair of special trains between Chennai Egmore and Sengottai. Train No 06089 will depart from Chennai Egmore at 9.55pm on July 6 and arrive at Sengottai at 11.30am the next day.
Its return service, Train No. 06090, will depart from Sengottai at 7.45pm on July 7 and reach Chennai Egmore at 9.05am the next morning.These one-way special services will include AC and sleeper class coaches and are aimed at easing the festive rush. Advance reservations for both trains will open at 8.00 am on July 4. Railway officials have advised passengers to check train timings and boarding points in advance to avoid inconvenience.
