In an unusual administrative standoff, former Ballia District Magistrate Praveen Kumar Lakshkar has reportedly refused to vacate the official residence, leaving his successor, Mangala Prasad Singh, without proper accommodation. Although Singh has formally taken charge as the new District Magistrate (DM) of Ballia, he is currently operating from the cramped Dak Bungalow.
The Dak Bungalow is a public office that sees frequent visits from public representatives and the general public, making it a crowded and busy location. As a result, the newly appointed DM is facing difficulties in carrying out his duties. The ongoing dispute over the DM’s official residence is also affecting the overall administrative functioning of the district.
According to local administrative sources, despite his transfer, Lakshkar has yet to vacate the official residence, causing disruptions in the district’s administrative functioning. The residence is considered crucial for overseeing planning, development work, and responding to emergency situations in Ballia.
Officials are currently in discussions to resolve the matter swiftly and enable Singh to occupy the official residence, ensuring smooth governance in the district. Senior authorities are expected to intervene shortly to facilitate the new DM’s relocation and restore normal administrative functioning.
