Minister for Transport K.B. Ganesh Kumar inaugurated the MVD Leads and Civic Eye mobile applications here on Friday. The mobile apps are aimed at creating awareness of traffic rules among all sections of the people, from students to adults, the Minister said at the inaugural held at Nishagandhi Auditorium.

The MVD Leads app is designed to help those applying for learner’s licence. It will include materials on the philosophy of driving, road signs, and road markings, driving trivia, question bank, and mock tests on the lines of the actual driving test and make the process of test preparation easier.

It will also assess learners’ performance and understand the common errors made by them during the tests through graphs, thus enabling them to address the gaps. Besides making it easier for learners to get licences, it also strengthens road awareness.

The app is available in Malayalam, English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, increasing its reach.

It can also be used by students to claim concession tickets on private buses.

Civic Eye is an app that helps detect motor transport rule violations. As a camera switches on as soon as the app is opened, it enables one to take photos quickly. It also has geotagging facility, besides letting take video and store it.

The Minister also released the Transport department’s virtual PRO and mascot Office Mottu on the occasion.

Transport Commissioner C.H. Nagaraju spoke.
