Giragitle, a travelogue by Shivananda Karki, was released at a function in Tirthahalli on May 24. Karki, a journalist, has recorded his visit to Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, in the book.

This is Karki’s third book. His two earlier works are Khaneshumari, a collection of writings on life in Maland, and Garku, a novel.

Bharathi Devi of government degree college at Holehonnur, spoke about the travelogue.

Former minister and Tirthahalli MLA Araga Jnanendra, who participated in the book release function, recalled his visit to foreign countries. He appreciated Karki’s narration in the travelogue.

Former minister Kimmane Rathnakar recalled his foreign tours and compared Karki’s travelogue with other noted travelogues of Kannada literature.

Basavani Vijaydev, president of Sahyadri Institutions, T.K. Ramesh Shetty, president of taluk unit of Sahitya Parishat, and Shivanand Karki, the author, were among the participants in the function.

The book has been published by Dhvani Prakashana. The book costs ₹150.
