According to ESPN’s senior NBA writer Shams Charania, forward Trendon Watford was roped in by the Philadelphia 76ers for the next two seasons. The former Brooklyn Nets star ended his free agency recently and is gearing up to play a crucial role in the next NBA season for the Philadelphia 76ers.
After representing the Brooklyn Nets for two seasons, Watford entered free agency. During his exit from the Nets back in April, Trendon Watford pointed out his priorities in the NBA fraternity. The talented basketball athlete clearly spoke about what he actually deserves and expectations from free agency. During a press conference, he said,"Obviously, you want to get what you feel like you deserve. Just having a consistent role these past two years, I think I've been able to show not only my organization but other organizations, putting my name out there and earning respect for my name.”
Watford further mentioned"I think I've been able to do that with the opportunity that I've been given here. I think this is my second time coming around free agency. I know how it goes, and I know it's a business, but I enjoyed this. I enjoyed the group, and I enjoy being here. I know we gotta have some talks or whatever coming up soon. But, I enjoy being here. I like what we got going on."Trendon Watford wrapped up the 2024-25 season averaging 10.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, shooting 46.9% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc. After a steady 2023-24 showing with Brooklyn, his role expanded under new head coach Jordi Fernandez, who utilized Watford’s ball-handling skills at the power forward spot more effectively, leading to a noticeable jump in his impact. Also Read: “Wants me to F**king retire”- LeBron James leaked chat with former teammate reveals the true reason behind his future NBA retirement
