Gumla: In a first, a tribal entrepreneur from Gumla showcased his business model at a national level business conclave in New Delhi on Wednesday.Amar Pradeep Kujur, in his late 40s, showcased his farm-based business model at the Tribal Business Conclave-2025.
Organised jointly by the Union ministries of commerce & industry, tribal affairs and culture along with various commerce bodies, the conclave was aimed at promoting tribal enterprises across the country.
The event came ahead of Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary, which is celebrated by the Union ministry of tribal affairs as Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas.Talking to TOI from the national capital over phone, Kujur said, "I made a presentation on agriculture based commercial farming which aims to not only provide job to local unemployed persons but to promote pure organic crops for local and outside markets based on scientific methods."
Kujur, who made it to the conclave as a special invitee, said his presentation drew attention of the participants.Elaborating further, Kujur said, “Our model replaces rainfall dependency farming to all seasons by using multiple cropping, which uses less water and is weather resilient. Farmers engaged with us get training farm scientists and have the knowledge of weather conditions, values of crops and packaging.
It will be totally different from the traditional agriculture practices ensuring crops protection, profitability and sustainable farm exercises.
"Besides Kujur, former Tribal Research Institute director Ranendra Kumar and Sahitya Academy member Mahadeo Toppo attended the conclave. Over 150 delegates from across the country participated in the first such mega national conclave. Former Gumla DC Himani Pande, who now holds the post of additional secretary to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) in the Union ministry of commerce and industry, delivered the welcome address and provided context for the event.
