Tripura gives 11,130 smartphones to anganwadi workers

Agartala: In a significant move to enhance the Poshan Abhiyan initiative, Tripura CM Manik Saha announced the distribution of 11,130 smartphones to anganwadi workers. These devices, equipped with the Poshan Tracker app, aim to improve the monitoring and implementation of nutrition programs for mothers and children by providing real-time data.Saha also launched 14 development projects and laid the foundation for five 100-seated working women’s hostels and a 50-seated boys; hostel of DIET, with a total investment of approximately Rs 61 crore. The state govt is prioritizing infrastructure development, with a budget allocation of Rs 7,000 crore, and has approved the establishment of two additional one-stop centers in Kailashahar and Agartala.Highlighting welfare initiatives, Saha revealed that 14,575 divyangjans are receiving a monthly social allowance of Rs 2,000, while 4,286 children have been awarded a monthly sponsorship of Rs 4,000 for the 2024-25 period.

Additionally, 101 children have been granted Rs 50,000 each for rehabilitation assistance, and 940 children are residing in 44 childcare homes across eight districts.Plans for the construction of 10 working women’s hostels statewide were also announced, with a budget of Rs 114 crore sanctioned for the project. Each hostel will feature gyms, entertainment facilities, sports courts, round-the-clock security, and childcare amenities.

Saha emphasized Tripura's alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Viksit Bharat@2047, noting the state’s 5th national ranking and 1st among NE states. Furthermore, 46 anganwadi centers have been established under the DoNER ministry and NESIDS, focusing on nutrition, health, and pre-primary education. In line with the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, aftercare facilities for young women aged 18–21 are being developed to provide education, vocational training, life skills, and psychological support.
