Bhopal: A speeding heavy truck veered off the road and ploughed into a group of villagers sitting outside a house in Seoni district on Saturday night, killing two men and leaving two others critically injured.The crash occurred in Sarrahirri village under Kurai area when the vehicle went out of control and rammed into the courtyard of a roadside house. Sukhmal Bhalavi, 45, died on the spot, while Ranjit Saryam, 41, succumbed to his injuries on the way to the district hospital.Two other injured persons, Sandeep Marskole and Chandrabhan Verma, both aged 36, were initially admitted to the district hospital and later referred to Nagpur in critical condition for advanced treatment.Police and local administrative officials rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident. The damaged heavy truck was seized and parked at Badalpar police outpost, while the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination.The driver fled the spot after abandoning the vehicle, police said.The incident triggered anger and grief in the village, with locals alleging that speeding heavy vehicles have become a recurring threat in the area and have caused several accidents in the past as well.
