US President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that tariffs on Chinese goods will be reduced from 57% to 47%, following what he described as an “amazing" meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Busan, South Korea.

Speaking after the talks, Trump said “a lot of decisions were made" during the discussions and that both sides had reached several key understandings on trade and cooperation.

Trump said the two leaders agreed that President Xi would “work very hard to stop fentanyl" and that more conclusions on “very important things" would be shared soon.

“The meeting with President Xi was amazing. A lot of decisions were made," Trump said, adding that while not every issue was discussed, progress was achieved on multiple fronts between the world’s two largest economies.
