US Attorney Jeanine Pirro released a dramatic video on Thursday showing United States President Donald Trump’s assassination attempt suspect Cole Tomas Allen casing the areas at the Washington Hilton Hotel on April 24 and breaking through a Secret Service checkpoint outside the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner at that hotel the next night, where the president was about to address.
In the video shared by Pirro, a Secret Service officer was seen quickly pulling his handgun and shooting multiple times at Allen as the 31-year-old man stormed through the checkpoint with a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun in his hands, as claimed by the prosecutors.
Pirro stated that no evidence has been found in the investigation which indicates that a Secret Service agent who was shot during the incident was struck by any member of law enforcement.
According to the authorities, the agent did not suffer serious injuries because the gunshot was stopped by protective gear.
The officials collected the video from the surveillance cameras at the Hilton, which traced the movement of Allen on the evening of April 24 and on the night of April 25 when Trump was attacked.
In another video on April 24, Allen is seen walking along a hallway which has the same carpet design as was seen in the video of the shooting scene from the next night.
The video also showed him walking into a gym near the hallway and talking to an attendant present inside, before walking out.
The next night, the suspect was seen walking down the same hallway at 8:23 pm, wearing a long coat.
The video then showed the sequence unfolding around 8:36 p.m., when a Secret Service screening point had been set up on the floor above the ballroom to check guests entering the dinner.
In the video, two officers begin dismantling one of the two magnetometers positioned at the checkpoint. Moments later, Allen is seen walking down the corridor and slipping through a side door, roughly ten steps behind the screening area.
Shortly after, another officer, accompanied by a dog, approached the same doorway, paused there for several seconds, and then turned away.
Allen then suddenly re-emerged, sprinting out of the doorway with a shotgun and charging toward the still-standing magnetometer.
A Secret Service officer, who had been in conversation with colleagues nearby, reacted within seconds—drawing his handgun and firing at least three shots as Allen ran past him.
Other officers in the vicinity quickly pulled their weapons and aimed in the direction Allen fled.
Allen was ultimately overpowered and detained at the scene, though the footage does not capture the moment of his arrest.
According to prosecutors, he was armed with a shotgun—containing one spent shell—as well as a .38-caliber pistol, ammunition, and several knives and daggers.

Taking to X, Pirro wrote, “Today, we are releasing video already provided to U.S. District Court showing Cole Allen shoot a U.S. Secret Service officer during his attempt to assassinate the President at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner."
“There is no evidence the shooting was the result of friendly fire. The video also shows Allen casing the area in the Hilton Hotel the day before the attack. My office along with the @FBI will continue this extensive investigation to bring Cole Allen to justice," Pirro added.
Allen faces multiple federal charges, including attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, transporting a firearm or ammunition across state lines, and using a firearm in connection with a violent crime.
The high-profile dinner he allegedly targeted was attended by Donald Trump, Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, FBI Director Kash Patel, other administration officials, and hundreds of journalists.
Earlier on Thursday, Allen, a resident of Torrance, waived his right to contest pretrial detention during proceedings in the US District Court for the District of Columbia. His lawyer, however, indicated that the option to challenge his detention at a later stage remains open.
