US President Donald Trump attended the FIFA Club World Cup final between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, held at MetLife Stadium on Monday (IST). He praised the exceptional work done by his friend, FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

Chelsea FC emerged as the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup champions following an impressive performance by Cole Palmer, which led the Premier League side to a commanding 3-0 victory over a ten-man Paris Saint-Germain.

The FIFA Club World Cup marked the beginning of football’s expansion in the Americas, with the 2026 FIFA Club World Cup to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

“It was a little bit of an upset, I guess you would say but it was a great, great match, very well played, and a tremendous crowd. It’s a big thing and Gianni (Infantino) is a good friend of mine, he has done such a great job with soccer, or as they call football. While we were flying over the stadium, we saw it was packed, and there were lines with people waiting to get in," Trump was quoted as saying on DAZN.

Trump was booed multiple times by the 81,118 fans at MetLife Stadium when he walked onto the field for the postgame festivities. He distributed medals to the teams and stood with Chelsea players as they lifted the newly introduced trophy, which also drew criticism on social media.

What Happened In FIFA Club World Cup Final?

In an electrifying final, Palmer scored twice within eight minutes in the first half and then assisted Joao Pedro just before the break, setting up the Blues for a well-deserved victory over the European champions.

Chelsea concluded the tournament as the top scorers with 17 goals, one more than PSG, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich, who each scored 16. Luis Enrique’s side, aiming for a quadruple of major trophies during the 2024/25 campaign, were stunned by Chelsea’s first-half dominance and appeared a shadow of the team that had demolished Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
