Hours after announcing the peace deal, US President Donald Trump on Monday reached France for the Group of Seven summit.
While addressing the reporters with French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump announced that Vice President JD Vance will attend specifically for the signing ceremony in Geneva.
Replying to a question on when the MOU will be released, he said: “I think pretty soon. I want it to be released because it’s a very powerful document. It’s not like the Obama document, which was just a terrible document… So probably pretty soon. I would say sometime after Friday."
The G7 summit, being hosted by France, will even be attended by leaders of three nations – Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates – that are not part of the group. Iran will likely be a key part of the summit.
What Can Be Expected After The Signing
After the signing of the peace deal, which is likely to be on Friday, it is expected that there will be a change in relations between Trump and members of the NATO alliance.
The President has been having friction with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni over failing to consult them before the decision to go to war.
He had also slammed the members of the NATO military alliance for their lack of support for the US in the conflict.
Associated Press quoted the White House stating that Trump is expected to discuss with leaders the demining of the Strait of Hormuz. Both Britain and France have expressed interest in assisting with the demining. Macron said France was ready to move “very quickly" to deploy assets, including mine-clearing vessels, to the region.
AP quoted him adding that a French aircraft carrier and an accompanying strike group are already in the region and would be ready to assist within days of the US and Iran signing the agreement.
