US President Donald Trump said he will travel to China in early 2026 following what he described as a “very productive" phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Donald Trump said the two leaders made progress on a wide range of issues during the call, including trade, fentanyl trafficking, the war in Ukraine and approval of a deal to keep TikTok operating in the United States.

“I just completed a very productive call with President Xi of China. We made progress on many very important issues including Trade, Fentanyl, the need to bring the War between Russia and Ukraine to an end, and the approval of the TikTok Deal," Donald Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.

The US President added that he and Xi Jinping agreed to meet in person at the APEC summit in South Korea later this year, with plans for reciprocal state visits: Donald Trump to travel to China in early 2026 and Xi Jinping to visit the United States at a later date.
