Trump-Themed Autos To Hit Delhi Roads As US Envoy Hints At India-US Announcements

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has confirmed that major announcements on the India-US relationship are expected in the coming days and weeks.

Trump-themed auto-rickshaws were previewed in New Delhi on Tuesday as part of the US government’s Freedom250 campaign, hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump spoke by phone for 40 minutes on West Asia and bilateral ties, with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor confirming that major announcements on the India-US relationship are expected over the coming days and weeks.

The autos, wrapped in images of Trump and “Happy Birthday America" messaging, will roll out across Delhi and later other Indian cities, building toward July 4, 2026, when the United States marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Gor told DD India that the two leaders have spoken multiple times this year, including calls that were not made public. “They’ve actually spoken several more times this year… not every conversation obviously becomes public. But they did just get off the phone in the last hour," he said.

On the substance of the latest call, Gor said Trump briefed PM Modi on developments in West Asia and on “several big-ticket items" in the bilateral relationship. “I just came back from Washington, where I met with the entire cabinet… so we do have some big ticket items that will be announced over the next few days, over the next few weeks," he said, declining to give specifics.

Trump also told Modi during the call: “I just want you to know we all love you," according to Gor.

Rubio To Visit India Next Month

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to India next month in his first visit to the country. Gor said preparations are in place for a ministerial-level Quad meeting during the trip. “India is vitally important to us and an incredible partner. The President also shares a strong relationship with your Prime Minister," he said.

Modi, posting on X after the call, said the two leaders reviewed “substantial progress" in bilateral cooperation. “We are committed to further strengthening our Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership in all areas," he wrote. Both leaders also stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.

Freedom250 is a year-long US public-private initiative. The Trump-branded autos will travel across multiple Indian cities in the months ahead of America’s 250th Independence Day.
