A former journalist claimed that US President Donald Trump made Princess Diana deeply uncomfortable with repeated advances following her 1996 divorce from then-Prince Charles. Former BBC journalist Selina Scott said Donald Trump sent Princess Diana large bouquets of flowers to her Kensington Palace apartment and saw her as “the ultimate trophy wife."
According to Selina Scott, Princess Diana confided in her over dinner, asking, “What am I going to do? He gives me the creeps." The former journalist said she advised her to throw the flowers away and Princess Diana laughed.
Donald Trump wrote in his 1997 book ‘The Art of the Comeback’ that he regretted never having the opportunity to date the princess.
“I never had the opportunity to court Lady Diana Spencer," he wrote, adding, “She was a genuine princess- a dream lady."
Donald Trump Comments After Princess Diana’s Death
Following Princess Diana’s death in 1997, Donald Trump reportedly told friends that he believed he would have had a chance at romance with her. In an interview with Howard Stern later that year, Donald Trump said he “could have nailed her" and suggested that he would have asked her to undergo an HIV test before any intimacy. Howard Stern joked about the idea and Donald Trump responded, “Go back over to my Lexus, because I have a new doctor. We wanna give you a little check-up."
Donald Trump made similar comments again in a 2000 interview placing Princess Diana third on a personal list of the most attractive women behind his ex-wife Ivana and his future wife Melania. Donald Trump described Princess Diana as “supermodel beautiful" and “crazy", saying, “She had the height, she had the beauty, she had the skin, the whole thing."
