Congress leader Pawan Khera Sunday heavily criticised the “jungle raj” in Bihar and said JD(U) leader Anant Singh’s arrest a “mere whitewashing” ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshows and rallies today.

“The truth of the real ‘jungle raj’ is out in the open. Just before the Prime Minister’s roadshow, this is mere whitewashing – the reality is visible to everyone,” he said.

JD(U) leader Anant Singh was arrested early on Sunday after a person was killed and several others injured in a violent clash purportedly between the Jan Surak Party and JD(U) supporters in Mokama’s Tartar village on Thursday afternoon. Singh is JD(U)’s candidate from Mokama seat for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.

The man who was killed, 75-year-old Dularchand Yadav, had a long history of associations, ranging from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad to JD(U) Mokama candidate and strongman Anant Singh.

Khera said that while the people of Bihar will welcomed the prime minister warmly, they will also bid him farewell this time. “Biharis will welcome the Prime Minister warmly – they are great hosts – but will also bid him farewell this time.”
