Kolkata law college gangrape accused Monojit Mishra’s father gave a statement regarding the ongoing case against his son. Expressing faith in judiciary, he said the court will decide what is the true. Notably, it was alleged that Monojit Mishra was already abandoned by his parents due to his illicit activities, and used to live away from home.

Speaking to ANI, accused’s father said, “The matter is subjudice and investigation is underway. I have been saying from the beginning that I have faith in the judiciary. The court will decide the further course of action."

He further added that he trusts the administration and if there were cases against his son, why was he not arrested before. “I trust the state government, police and the administration. People are saying there were cases already registered against my son, so why was he not arrested back then? I am sure the truth will come out…," Mishra’s father said.

Monojit Mishra is the prime accused in alleged gangrape of a law student inside the South Calcutta Law College in Kasba area in Kolkata. The incident occurred on June 25 and based on the survivor’s statement Mishra and two co-accused — Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee, both students at the law college, have been arrested.

The law college expelled all three, one as a contractual faculty, and the others as students.

Additionally, a CCTV footage from the college campus on June 25, the day of the incident, showed the student being forcibly taken into the guard room. The SIT continues to probe the matter and further details will be shared as the investigation concludes.
