Tulsi Vivah 2025: Story
According to Hindu Scriptures, a demon was created out of Lord Shiva's anger and turned against all the gods. The demon's Guru, Shukracharya, then advised him to marry Vrinda since she was a trustworthy woman and a devout disciple of Lord Vishnu. No one, not even the gods, could kill or vanquish Jalandhar because of his wife Vrinda's Pativrata Dharma, or character.
For her husband's health and longevity, she decided to do a puja ritual, but Lord Vishnu already knew that if she became successful, Jalandhar would become immortal and could not be killed. In order to complete the puja process, Lord Vishnu then appeared in the form of Jalandhar and sat with Vrinda, thus broke her character. After knowing the reality, she cursed him (Lord Vishnu) and he transformed in the form of a stone known as Shaligram.
Goddess Laxmi approached Vrinda and requested that she remove her curse. Vrinda removed her curse but at the cost of her own life. She was then blessed by Lord Vishnu to become a Tulsi and it is said that his puja is never be completed without offering Tulsi Patra to Lord Vishnu because of her sincere devotion, which led him to marry her in the form of Shaligram. Since then, Tulsi Vivah and Shaligram is celebrated by Hindus worldwide.
