BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh high court on Monday adjourned the hearing on pleas seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to retired district judge Giribala Singh in the alleged dowry death case of her daughter-in-law, Twisha Sharma. The court adjourned the matter till May 27. Giribala Singh was granted anticipatory bail by a Bhopal sessions court earlier this month. Twisha Sharma, 33, was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. Her family alleged that she was subjected to dowry harassment and abetment to suicide by her husband, lawyer Samarth Singh, and his family. Her in-laws, however, claimed she suffered from drug addiction. The case has drawn national attention after the Supreme Court of India directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to take over the probe into Sharma’s death amid allegations of institutional bias in the investigation.
