The Goshamahal police has arrested two persons on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust after they allegedly obtained pulses and grains worth ₹7,48,367 from a trader on the false promise of making payment.
The accused were identified as Akunuru Ashok, 60, proprietor of Dhanalakshmi Traders and a resident of Jawahar Nagar, Kapra, and Dharmendra Singh, 25, a driver residing at Moulali and originally from Rajasthan.
According to the police, the complainant, Roop Chand Solanki, a trader from Feelkhana in Begum Bazaar, alleged that the accused had induced him to supply the goods by assuring him that payment would be made. However, they allegedly failed to honour the commitment, causing a loss of ₹7,48,367.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Sections 316(5), 316(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.
During the probe, investigators collected documentary evidence, including invoices, cheques and bank return memos. The two accused were apprehended on the same day, and two mobile phones allegedly used in the commission of the offence were seized.
The accused were produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
