Two habitual offenders involved in four cases of snatching, and two thefts reported earlier this year, were arrested by the Secunderabad Railway Police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Wednesday. The police recovered 114.6 grams of gold worth ₹11.45 lakh.

The accused, identified as Thamballa Nithin, 27, an auto-rickshaw driver from Anisettipally, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, and Indirala Rajesh, 35, a cab driver from Nizamabad, were apprehended in the early hours near platform number 1 of the Secunderabad Railway Station.

According to officials, the two men are long-time friends and were addicted to gambling, online betting, and other vices, and had turned to theft to fund their lifestyles. While Nithin was involved in 23 property offences, Rajesh has 16 cases registered against him, and both have served time in jail.

During routine patrolling, the duo was found moving suspiciously and was taken in for questioning. During interrogation, the two confessed to committing six offences within the jurisdiction of Secunderabad Railway Police Station.

Further investigation is underway.
