Police on Thursday arrested two persons for allegedly tearing up the banners of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s in Vajamangala village in the Varuna police station limits.
The accused have been identified as Range Gowda, 39, a resident of Kokkarehundi, and Vasanth Kumar, 26, a resident of Thoranahalli village.
The banner was put up in front of the Ambedkar Community Hall in Vajamangala, and the accused reportedly tore the banner on April 18. The incident sparked unrest in the village. A case was registered at the Varuna police station, and demands were made by various organisations to trace the guilty and bring them to book.
Considering the sensitivity of the case, the team, constituted by Mysuru district Superintendent of Police N. Vishnuvardhan. The team arrested the accused on Thursday, and they were interrogated and produced before the jurisdictional court.
They were remanded in judicial custody.
