Two awarded one week jail for drunken driving

Two persons were sentenced to one week imprisonment and five others penalised for drunken driving in Nandyal.

As part of drive to curb road accidents, drunken driving checks have been conducted under the supervision of Nandyal traffic inspector Mallikarjuna Gupta in the town. Nine persons have been caught while driving under the influence of alcohol and they were produced before the First Class Magistrate, Nandyal.

The court sentenced two of them to one week imprisonment while seven others were imposed penalty ranging from ₹3,000 to ₹10,000.
