Two Coimbatore engineering college students die in road accident

COIMBATORE: Two engineering students died after the motorcycle they were travelling on rammed a roadside tree near the Madukkarai Military Camp in Coimbatore district on Thursday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as H Sylesh Vishwanathan, 20, from Thenkasi district and S Surya Narayanan, 20, of the Kurichi Housing Unit in the city. Both were third year BE CSE students at a private college on the Coimbatore-Palakkad main road. According to the police, the two youths were travelling on a motorcycle from their college towards Madukkarai around noon. Sylesh, who was riding the two-wheeler, lost control of the vehicle.

The motorcycle rammed a roadside tree near the Madukkarai Military Camp office. Both the rider and the pillion rider sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. A motorist, who witnessed the accident, informed the Madukkarai police. The police rushed to the scene and sent the bodies to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem. The Madukkarai police registered a case and began investigations.
