Two crushed to death while removing towing rope on Indore- Bhopal Highway in Khajuri

Times News NetworkBhopal: Two men were crushed to death between a tractor and a stranded truck while they were removing a towing rope after helping pull the vehicle out of mud on the Bhopal-Indore highway near Balaji Rajasthan Dhaba under Khajuri police station limits late Sunday night.

Two others were injured in the crash. Khajuri police registered a case on Monday and launched an investigation.According to police, complainant Jitendra Ahirwar, 34, a resident of Nandni village, was returning from Dewas along with tractor driver Mukesh Ahirwar after completing soil-testing work. The duo was travelling with a tractor-mounted mini boring machine owned by Jivan Malviya.Around 11.30 pm, near Balaji Rajasthan Dhaba, they were approached by the driver of a truck that had allegedly become stuck in mud. Jitendra and Mukesh detached the boring machine from the tractor and, with the help of dhaba employee Narendra Kumar, arranged a towing rope and pulled the stranded vehicle back onto the road.Police said that after successfully towing the vehicle, Mukesh Ahirwar and truck driver Jivan Bagri, a resident of Shajapur, were standing between the tractor and the truck, removing the towing rope, when a speeding truck coming from the Indore side allegedly rammed into the parked vehicles.The impact crushed Mukesh and Jivan between the tractor and the truck, killing both on the spot.Jitendra, who was seated on the tractor at the time, was thrown off and suffered injuries to his ribs and right leg.

Narendra Kumar also sustained injuries to his hand.Police have booked the unidentified truck driver for rash and negligent driving and causing death by negligence. Efforts are underway to trace the vehicle based on the registration number noted by the injured witnesses. Further investigation is in progress.
