Two workers died after inhaling toxic fumes at a pharma unit in Anakapalle district while checking chemical waste levels

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two persons died and one more is in critical condition after inhaling toxic fumes at a private pharmaceutical company in the early hours of Thursday.The incident took place at Sai Sreyam Pharmaceutical Pvt Ltd, located in Parawada Pharma City, Anakapalle district.According to reports, the victims — Parimi Chandrasekhar (safety manager), Saragadam Kumar (safety officer), and Baidu Baisal were exposed to the toxic gas while handling chemicals at the company’s treatment plant. They were reportedly examining the levels of waste chemicals when the leak occurred.Chandrasekhar and Kumar died on the spot, while Baisal is undergoing treatment and remains in critical condition.In response to the incident, trade union leaders and activists have demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore each for the deceased workers' families.
