Two die as van hits motorcycle near Krishnagiri

KRISHNAGIRI: Two men died when a van hit the motorcycle they were travelling on near Uthangarai in Krishnagiri district on Friday night. The deceased have been identified as N Prakash, 28, of Bargur and L Gnanasekaran, 27, of Kandhili.

Both were labourers.The accident happened around 10.30pm when Prakash and Gnanasekaran were travelling from Uthangarai towards Mathur on the motorcycle to collect money they had lent to a person.As they approached Uthangarai, a speeding tourist van that was going to Hogenakkal hit their two-wheeler. The accident happened on the Bengaluru-Krishnagiri-Uthangarai National Highway. "Prakash died on the spot. Gnanasekaran, who sustained injuries, was taken to the Uthangarai Government Hospital, where he died," said an officer at the Uthangarai police station.The police registered a case and arrested van driver V Dakshinamoorthy, 31, of Cuddalore. He was remanded in judicial custody.
