Two friends on the run after staging robbery of another friend

The Chikkajala police are on a hunt for two youths who robbed their friend by hiring goons, trying to make it look like highway robbery, on April 30.

Shocked victim returned home without complaining to the police, and later recalling the incident while discussing with his family members, before approaching the police, suspected his friends’ role. The police who analysed their mobile call record details confirmed their involvement. Efforts are on to track down the accused who are presently on the run.

According to the complaint, Chandan Puttaswamy, 23-year-old businessman got a call from his friend Achal Nane along with another friend Pawan to meet him. After a few minutes of talking they insisted him to come along on a long drive and for dinner. Chandan agreed reluctantly, and went with them. On the way, during a general conversation about business, Achal advised Chandan to not approach the police if they were robbed. Despite it looking odd, Chandan ignored it and the trio reached a hotel in Gantiganahalli circle, Nellakunte, Jala hobli, and they had liquor and food.

While returning home Achal slowed down the car saying someone crashed into the vehicle from behind. Meanwhile, two men on scooter blocked the path of the car, forced opened the door and slapped Chandan and robbed his gold chain, gold ring, and bracelet total worth ₹3 lakh at knife point. They slapped Chandan when he tried to resist but Achal and Pawan who could have overpowered the accused sat back without saying a word, Chandan said in his complaint.

After robbing the valuables the duo sped away, and Achal despite Chandan’s request to chase them refused to do so. The duo managed to convince Chandan not to file a police complaint as he should be thankful that his life was saved and he could anytime earn back the lost money.

Convinced, Chandan agreed, and the duo dropped him to his home and left. When Chandan narrated his ordeal to his family members, they suspected the role of Achal and Pawan and suggested him to file a police complaint.

Based on the complaint, the Chikkajala police verified the call details of Achal and Pawan and came to know that they were in regular touch with the accused who robbed Chandan. We have got some vital clues about the accused and they will be arrested soon, a police officer said.
