Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu suspended two employees, Record Assistant S. Nageswara Rao and Sanitation Secretary Y. Thyagaraju, on charges of forgery and negligence respectively.

In an official statement on Tuesday, the Commissioner said that Nageswara Rao, working in the GMC Circle office, had forged the Commissioner’s signature and issued a fake appointment letter to J. Sundara Rao from Vijayawada after collecting ₹4.4 lakh from the latter.

Acting on Sundara Rao’s complaint, the Deputy Commissioner conducted an inquiry, which confirmed that Nageswara Rao had fabricated the letter and accepted money illegally. Based on the report, Rao was immediately suspended from service, the Commissioner said.

In another incident, Y. Thyagaraju, Sanitation Secretary at a Ward Secretariat, was found guilty of negligence in addressing 45 public grievances related to sanitation issues. Despite failing to resolve them, he had recorded them as resolved.

Mr. Srinivasulu emphasised that the GMC administration would not tolerate forgery, corruption, or negligence. He reiterated that employees must handle public complaints responsibly and warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those who disregard their duties.
