Two held in Sangareddy with 12.8 kg of marijuana worth ₹4.5 lakh

The Prohibition and Excise Enforcement team of Medak Division seized 12.81 kg of marijuana and arrested two persons during a raid near Muttangi in Sangareddy district on Sunday (November 2).

The team, under the supervision of Assistant Prohibition and Excise Superintendent K. Srinivasa Rao, conducted raids along the service road from Muttangi to Indresham beside Atharva Convention Hall. The operation took place at around 6 p.m.

“The accused were identified as Jadhav Ravi and Chawhan Raju, both residents of RC Puram, Patancheru. We seized 12.81 kg of marijuana, an auto and three mobile phones from them,” said an officer from the department.

The total value of the seized property was estimated at ₹4.5 lakh, including ₹3.2 lakh worth of marijuana, ₹1 lakh for the vehicle, and ₹30,000 for the mobile phones.

Assistant Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise Enforcement, Medak, G. Srinivas Reddy, said the accused were found in possession of the contraband and were preparing to sell it when the team intercepted them.

“Further investigation is under way to trace the source of the contraband and identify potential links in the supply chain,” added the officer.
