Two killed as car loses control, falls into river in Madhya Pradesh

Two people were killed and as many critically injured after a car plunged into the Kali Sindh River in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district on Sunday, police said. The accident occurred on the Indore-Betul highway near Mokhapipalya village in Bagli tehsil.

According to Kamlaur police station in-charge Upendra Nahar, the car was crossing a culvert when a truck approached from the opposite direction, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The car then fell into the river.

Local villagers, along with the Kamalapur police, helped rescue all four men from the submerged car. The victims were rushed to the government hospital in Bagli, where doctors declared two of them dead. The other two injured persons were later referred to Indore for further treatment.

"The car doors got jammed after it fell into the river, delaying the rescue efforts. Locals had to break the windows to pull out the occupants," Nahar said.

A video of the incident shows a group of people using ropes to pull the car out of the water as part of the rescue operation.
