DHARMAPURI: Forest officials imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 each on two motorists who disturbed an elephant.Elephants in Hogenakkal and Pennagaram forests cross the Pennagaram-Hogenakkal road to drink water.
Road users often disturb the elephants. Forest officials patrol the area to prevent this.
On Wednesday, a team led by Hogenakkal foresters Maheshwari and Swathi was patrolling the area. When an elephant crossed the road, two motorists disturbed it by taking videos and making loud noises. “The duo were warned and fined Rs 2,000 each," said Hogenakkal forest range officer PV Anbu.
