Two pedestrians were killed after being reportedly hit by a speeding motorcycle at Perumthatta, Mathamangalam, on Wednesday (September 3).

The deceased were identified as Vijayan, 50, and Ratheesh, 40, both residents of Eramam. The accident occurred around 11.45 p.m., when a bike ridden by Sreethul, 27, reportedly rammed into the pedestrians. All three were rushed to the Kannur Government Medical College Hospital, where Vijayan and Ratheesh succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Sreethul is undergoing treatment for his injuries.

The police said the rider initially claimed that he had fallen on the road and sustained injuries. However, the probe allegedly revealed that he had lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the pedestrians before falling. The Peringome police have attributed excessive speed as the likely cause of the accident.
