Nandyal police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in house breakings in various parts of the district and also in Vizianagaram and Prakasam districts.
Producing the arrested accused before the media, Additional Superintendent of Police Yugandhar Babu said the Nandikotkur police arrested the two — Vemula Shiv Shankar of Miryalguda in Telangana State and Guttikonda Pawan Kumar of Guntur district — on the outskirts of Nandikotkur town while investigating into a house break-in offence that took place in the town a couple of months back. They were involved in two cases each in Nandyal Taluk police station and Nandikotkur police station, and one each case in Nandyal III Town, Velugodu and Bhogapuram police limits. The police recovered 394 grams of gold ornaments, 326 grams silver ornaments and a laptop all worth ₹39 lakh from them.
Mr. Yugandhar Babu said they were earlier involved in property offences in Guntur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Nellore, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, Rajahmundry, Annamayya and Anantapur districts and served imprisonment in Nellore, Kadapa and Guntur prisons. The Additional SP said 21 cases have been registered against Shiv Shankar while 36 cases are against Pawan Kumar.
