A boy and a man were washed away in the Bhima near Machanur village in Wadagera taluk of Yadgir district on Friday.
They have been identified as 17-year-old Ramesh and 21-year-old Siddappa.
It is said that the two were taking livestock to the river when they slipped and fell and were washed away in the flowing water.
However, the real cause for the incident will be revealed only after investigation.
Wadagera Tahsildar Mangala and Sub-Inspector of Police Mehboob Ali rushed to the spot.
A search was launched with the help of local swimmers and personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services but the two could not be found till 5 p.m. on Friday.
The search operation will continue in the morning on Saturday.
