Two youths arrested with 26.5 kg poppy husk near Misrod

Bhopal: Misrod police on Tuesday arrested two youths and seized over 26.5 kg of dodachura (Poppy husk) valued at around Rs 1.25 lakh during a narcotics crackdown near Aakriti Aqua City on the city’s outskirts.According to police, acting on a tip-off, a team reached the area near the entrance of Aakriti Aqua City. Two suspects carrying large backpacks were spotted standing along a kuccha road near the colony gate. On noticing the police team, both allegedly tried to flee towards nearby fields but were chased and apprehended.The accused were identified as Mohit Kir, 24, and Aryan Kir, 19, both residents of Ghat Pipaliya village in Raisen district. During the search, officers allegedly recovered poppy husk from backpacks carried by the duo. The seized contraband weighed 12.599 kg from Mohit’s possession and 14 kg from Aryan’s bag, taking the total recovery to 26.599 kg, including the weight of the bags. The contraband was seized.A case has been registered against both accused under NDPS Act. Police are now questioning them to ascertain the source and intended destination of the seized contraband. Further investigation is underway.
