Two youths drown in canal at Quepem

Margao: Two young men drowned in a canal at Bobrumoddi in Quepem on Sunday afternoon after they entered the waters for a bath.Quepem PI Prashal Dessai said the duo arrived at the spot on a two-wheeler.

Police identified them as Ignatius Sherry, 24, son of Fransisco Fernandes, from Fatorda and Harjit Singh Danu, a native of Uttarakhand, presently residing at Uttorda.The canal, located near Don Bosco High School, is frequented by youngsters who come to bathe in its waters. However, sources warned that the stretch is deceptively deep and poses serious danger to bathers.Quepem police have registered the case as unnatural deaths.
