Arsenal came away with a draw at the BayArena in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 game on Thursday as Kai Havertz came off the bench to restore parity for the Gunners against his former club.
Robert Andrich opened the scoring for Leverkusen in the 46th minute, before Havertz came on in place of Viktor Gyokeres to help Mikel Arteta and Co. salvage a point.
Andrich helped the hosts draw first blood after a goalless opening forty-five minutes, but Havertz netted from the spot in the 89th minute of the game after Noni Madueke was brought down inside the area by Max Tillman.
