People from underprivileged sections of society should come together to benefit from rights as envisaged under the Constitution, Minister for Social Welfare H.C. Mahadevappa has said.
He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a conference for the unity of underprivileged sections organised at Arbol Kalyan Mantap in Shahapur on Sunday.
The conference was jointly organised by Dalit organisations, backward classes organisations, Thinkers of Equal Society, deprived sections organisations and the government and non-government employees welfare society.
Dr. Mahadevappa said that the underprivileged communities should come together to benefit from the rights given to them under the Constitution to build an equal society.
Underlining the importance of reservation for deprived sections, he said that reservation for downtrodden communities is essential to bring educational and economical stability and also to build an equal society.
Minister for Public Works Satish Jarkiholi said that there is an opportunity for a new leadership if all downtrodden people come under a single umbrella.
He also said that State-level conferences of underprivileged communities will be organised, as the conference here is a beginning for a big achievement in the days to the come.
Minister for Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises Sharanabasappa Darshanapur said that underprivileged communities should get political support in fighting for their rights.
Jnana Prakash Swamiji of Urilingpeddi Samshtan Mutt appealed for unity among all deprived communities.
