Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy attended the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting held here on Friday and directed officials to ensure that the benefits of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) reach the eligible beneficiaries in a transparent manner.
Mr. Kumaraswamy also instructed the officials to ensure full utilization of the sanctioned funds for CSS.
Participating in the meeting held on Mysuru Zilla Panchayat premises along with MP for Mysuru Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that farmers losing their land for the construction of national highways should be provided with suitable alternate land or adequately compensated.
Mr. Yaduveer emphasised the need for Mysuru’s development to go hand-in-hand with the city’s heritage status. He advised officials of the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) to educate the public about subsidies available for installing solar systems under the Surya Ghar scheme.
MLA for Hunsur G.D. Harish Gowda, who participated in the meeting, asked officials to complete the underground drainage (UGD) connections before constructing roads in Hunsur town. “Once the roads are laid, they should not be dug up again,” he told the officials.
Claiming that pipelines under the Jal Jeevan Mission drinking water project had been laid along the National Highway without obtaining necessary approval from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Mr. Harish Gowda feared that the pipelines may be broken if the National Highway was widened, leading to drinking water problems in Hunsur. Hence, he asked the officials to sort out the matter and take corrective steps for the same.
MLA for Krishnaraja T.S. Srivats; Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru G. Lakshmikant Reddy; Mysuru Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Yukesh Kumar; Superintendent of Mysuru district police N. Vishnuvardhan; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mysuru city, Sundar Raj; and other officials were present.
