Students’ organisations of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) participated in the State-wide bandh on Saturday demanding 42% quota for Backward Classes in education, employment, and local body polls.

All India OBC students’ association president G. Kiran Kumar demanded that the Central government approve the Telangana Bills providing 42% BC reservations and include them in the ninth schedule of the Constitution to safeguard them from judicial challenges.

The organisations stressed that the demand was grounded in caste survey data and the constitutional principles of equality, representation, and social justice. They condemned the government’s bias in exceeding the 50% reservation limit for economically weaker sections while denying OBCs their rightful share. The protest saw participation from AIOBCSA, AISA, ASA, BSF, DSU, FRATERNITY, MSF, NSUI, PDSU, and TSF.
