A bank officer’s wife, Pooja Kumari, was found hanging in Muzaffarpur.
Muzaffarpur police on Thursday recovered the body of a bank officer’s wife hanging inside a flat in the Qazi Mohammadpur police station area. The victim, Pooja Kumari (30), was the wife of government bank officer Ravi Saurav.
According to police, the door of the room was locked from inside. Officers broke open the rear window to enter and brought the body out. Pooja was rushed to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Soon after the incident, her father, Prakash Kumar Sharma, levelled serious allegations against the husband. “My daughter was continuously tortured after marriage. She has been killed, and it is being made to look like a suicide. There are clear injury marks on her face and body,” he said.
Relatives alleged that Pooja had been subjected to harassment since her marriage in 2016. They claimed that she was murdered, and the case was being staged as a suicide.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Shahid of Qazi Mohammadpur police station said, “In the initial investigation, the body was found hanging inside the room. The door was locked from inside, which was opened by breaking the window. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The actual cause of death will be confirmed only after the report. Police are taking action based on the statements and applications of the family.”
