However, this momentous occasion can sometimes take an unexpectedly distressing turn. There are numerous instances where individuals, stepping eagerly into this chapter of their life, are left shocked and traumatised. One such incident occurred on May 27 in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, under the jurisdiction of Bhabhani police station, where a bride vanished just hours after her wedding.

Bride Disappears On Wedding Night

The newly married spouses had just retired for the night when the bride claimed she had some errands to attend to. When she failed to return, concerns quickly escalated among family members.

Subsequent inquiries revealed that the bride had absconded on a motorbike with her lover, prompting outrage and confrontation between the families. Following the dispute, the lover returned the bride to her parents’ home, where she declared her desire to live with him.

Village Elders Step In

The matter was escalated to the village panchayat, where elders and representatives from three villages convened to mediate. The panchayat proposed that the lover repay the groom’s family for the wedding expenses, estimated at Rs 3 lakh, and that the wedding gifts received from the groom’s side be handed over to the lover.

However, the lover’s family refused to accept the proposal and declined to reimburse the groom’s family for the wedding expenses, stating that the amount was too great a financial burden. With no resolution in sight, the groom’s family opted to lodge a formal complaint with the police. The situation, which was meant to mark a joyful milestone, instead devolved into a dramatic saga now under investigation by Bhabhani Police.
